Synopsis:

Reuniting with their craft, family, and culture, a costume designer travels from Iowa to their homeland of Guam to create costumes for a children’s theater production.

Hao Zhou uses film to explore queer stories in Asia and the Asian diaspora. An alum of the Cinéfondation Résidence and Berlinale Talents, Zhou has directed a narrative feature (“The Night”; Berlinale Panorama, Hong Kong IFF) and several shorts. In 2021, Zhou’s experimental documentary “Frozen Out” was a Student Academy Awards gold medal winner and screened at Frameline, BFI Flare, NewFest, and many others.

Tyler Hill

Tyler Hill is a producer working on nonfiction and narrative projects based in the rural US Midwest. Hill has produced “Frozen Out” (2021), the short documentary “Here, Hopefully” (2023, PBS; Doc10 Audience Award winner), and a forthcoming feature film. Now, Hill is in production on multiple documentaries that examine notions of community through playful, character-driven stories.
